Please discuss with your child the proper steps to deal with a difficult situation on the playground. These steps include:
      1) Tell the person to stop what they are doing.
      2) Ignore what the is doing.
      3) Walk away from the person.
      4) Find something else to play.
      5) Tell an adult.

      Principal's Message

Welcome to the 2007-2008 school year. My name is Thomas Holtke and it is my pleasure to serve the students, families and community of Santa Rosa Technology Magnet School as Principal. I am very proud to be a part of the SRTMS Family and the Pleasant Valley School District.

I completed my undergraduate studies at San Diego State University where I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education. I have since furthered my education at California Lutheran University receiving a Master of Arts degree in Educational Administration.

I have been in the profession of education for twelve years. I have taught at both the elementary and middle school levels: Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 4th and 7th grades and served as Associated Student Body Advisor teaching leadership to 6th, 7th and 8th grade students.

I have lived in Ventura County for 31 years and currently reside in the city of Newbury Park with my family. I have been married to my wife and soul mate Kristin for eight years. We are the proud parents of two wonderful children: Carson (5) and Charlotte (2).

In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family, surfing, snowboarding, running and reading.

      Eagle Pride!

      ESTABLISHED: 1982
      CURRENT PRINCIPAL: Pat FitzGerald
      SCHOOL COLORS: Blue and white
      GRADES: 6 - 8

Las Colinas ('The Hills') was named by Val Rains. Las Colinas was built for a rapidly expanding school age population in the Mission Oaks area of eastern Camarillo.

The school opened in the fall of 1982 as a K-7 school with that year's eighth graders staying at Monte Vista. Las Colinas opened with 4 wings of 6 classrooms, and an administrative office. The school was expanded to include the 8th grade during the 1984-85 school year. The auditorium was added at or around 1986.

The school's dedication was held on November 20, 1982. Architects were Arendi, Mosher and Grant. Leonard Diamond was Board President and Dr.Floyd Davis, School Superintendent.

Las Colinas has been awarded four California Distinguished Schools Awards with honors in 1988-89, in 1992-93, 1998-99, and 2004-05. The current enrollment is about 945 students.

One teacher will teach Math and Science the other teacher will teach Social Studies and Science.
The students will have a P.E. teacher. Art will be one of the electives along with a technology elective. We will work with the new teachers to plan the elective curriculum.
